Ready, City Manager BY: Planning Department SUMMARY From time to time, the City Zoning Map is updated to reflect recent City Council- approved zone changes (CZ's), planned development districts (PDD's) and specific plans (SP's). The map presented today incorporates recent past actions of the Council and also reflects the conversion of the zoning map from hand-drawn format to computer-based GIS format (Graphic Interface System). RECOMMENDATION: Receive and File. BACKGROUND: The official City Zoning Map was last updated in 2001. Since then, numerous changes of zone (CZ's), planned development districts (PDD's) and several specific plans (SP's) have been approved by the City Council. The new zoning map has captured these changes and recorded them on the official map. In addition, the new map in digital GIS format, allows more accurate mapping and the ability to link parcel-specific data to the map. The new map incorporates the entire City limits, including areas north of the Interstate 10 freeway. To allow the map to be printed, it is broken down into four map areas: • North: Encompassing the area from roughly the Whitewater River to Dillon Road • Northwest: Encompassing the area from the 111 / 1-10 interchange eastward, Snow Creek area and Chino Cone, • Central: Encompassing the area roughly from the Whitewater River to Ramon Road • South: Encompassing the area from Ramon Road to the southerly City Limits; City Council Staff Report February 20, 2013 Case 5.1287—Zoning Map Update and Conversion to GIS Format Page 2 of 2 South Specific Plan, the Museum Market Plaza Specific Plan, the College Park Specific Plan, and the Desert Palisades Specific Plan. This map does not seek any new zoning changes. It only reflects prior actions by the City Council. The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians Planning Department generously provided technical staff and support in converting the map and City Planning Staff wishes to extend its gratitude for this collaborative effort between the Tribe and the City. The new map will be presented at the Council meeting for your review. The updated Zoning Map should prove to be a useful and convenient upgrade that is usable for many years to come. FISCAL IMPACT: None. ey , -- — C i . Ewing ICP, Tom A. Wilso Assista t City Manager, Dbig'ctor of PI ing Services Developmen ervices David H. Ready, Ci ager
