Ready, City Manager BY: Amy Blaisdell, Director of Communications SUMMARY The City Council will consider authorizing the City Manager to expend funds and execute all agreements for the City of Palm Springs 75th Anniversary. RECOMMENDATION: 1) Waive the informal bid requirements pursuant to Title 7 of the Palm Springs Municipal Code for procurement of goods/services for the 75th Anniversary Event. 2) Authorize the City Manager to expend funds and execute all necessary agreements for the City's 75th Anniversary event. BACKGROUND &ANALYSIS: The 75th Anniversary of the City of Palm Springs birthday party and fireworks spectacular, "Thanks for the Memories! Palm Springs through the Decades," is slated for Saturday, April 20, 2013 at O'Donnell Golf Course. The City Council formed a 75th Anniversary Subcommittee comprised of Mayor Steve Pougnet and Councilmember Paul Lewin who met with stakeholders and developed the event. The event is being funded by P.S. Resorts, the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, the Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism, the City of Palm Springs and a host of community leaders. Staff recommends the City Council authorize the City Manager to expend donated and city appropriated funds and execute all necessary agreements.
