Subject: APPROVAL OF PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS AND ESTIMATE (PS&E)
AND AUTHORIZATION TO BID FOR THE RUTH HARDY PARK —
PARKING LOT REPAIRS, CITY PROJECT 13-08

SUMMARY
The Palm Springs City Council approved Measure J funds for Ruth Hardy Park -
Parking Lot Repairs. The project includes cold milling of existing asphalt concrete
pavement, construction of new 2" asphalt concrete overlay, construction of ADA access
ramps, and thermoplastic striping and markings. Plans and Specifications of this project
are available for viewing in Public Works and Engineering Department. Approval of this
project will allow staff to proceed with this public project, with an estimated cost of
$169,000.
RECOMMENDATION:
1. Approve the Plans, Specifications, and Estimates for the Ruth Hardy Park -
Parking Lot Repairs, City Project 13-08, and authorize staff to advertise and
solicit bids; and
STAFF ANALYSIS:
The plans, specifications and estimates for the Ruth Hardy Park - Parking Lot Repairs,
City Project 13-08 have been prepared by the Department of Public Works and
Engineering staff, are ready for the City Council approval, and for the subsequent
advertisement for construction bids.
Section 7.03.040 of the Procurement and Contracting Code requires that for public
projects in excess of $100,000 Council approve and adopt the plans, specifications and
working details, and authorize staff to advertise for construction bids. The Engineer's
Estimate for this project is $169,000. Approval of the recommended action will allow
staff to proceed with bidding of this project.

FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for this project is made available through local Measure J funds in accounts
260-4500-59410 and $15,000 260-4500-50000 (Measure J Unscheduled Capital
Projects).
