Good evening:
My name is Eugene Prieto. I was born and raised in Palm Springs. I had a
career in Law Enforcement here, followed by 30 years as an educator
beginning in Montebello and ending here in the Coachella Valley.
I am a Disabled Veteran of the United States Navy and presently the 2nd
Vice Commander for our American Legion Owen Coffman Post 519, this,
the reason I am here today.
Our Post honors those of our community who served in armed conflict with
a Wall of Honor at the Post. The original 16 names on this wall those of the
"Great Generation", who were lost in World War I1, we feel should be
honored by having local streets named after them. They gave all of their
tomorrows for us, and deserve this recognition.
Attending this important meeting today are some Post Officers and Color
Guard members of Post 519, and some family and friends of those lost
heroes.
So on behalf of The American Legion, Owen Coffman Post 519, we
respectfully ask you consideration of this request. Thank You
