RECOMMENDATION: Waive the reading of the ordinance text in its entirety and adopt Ordinance No. 1854, "AN ORDINANCE OF CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SUBSECTION 94.02.01.C. OF THE PALM SPRINGS MUNICIPAL CODE, BY ADDING CHANGES IN USE OF EXISTING BUILDINGS ALONG PALM CANYON AND INDIAN CANYON DRIVES NOT WITHIN THE 'D' DOWNTOWN PARKING COMBINING ZONE AS USES SUBJECT TO LAND USE PERMITS AND FOR WHICH CERTAIN PARKING REQUIREMENTS MAY BE WAIVED." (CASE NO. ZTA 5.1202) STAFF ANALYSIS: On July 16, 2014, Ordinance No. 1854 was introduced for first reading, as noted below: Waive the reading of the ordinance text in its entirety and read by title only and introduce Ordinance No. 1854, "AN ORDINANCE OF CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SUBSECTION 94.02.01.C. City Attorney's Summary Ordinance No. 1744, as amended by Ordinance No. 1815, relating to portable open signs, was extended for two years and expires on October 3, 2014. This Ordinance extends Ordinance No. 1744 to October 3, 2016. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, ORDAINS: SECTION 1. Section 3 of Ordinance No. 1744 is amended to read: SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall expire on October 3, 2016, unless reauthorized by action of the City Council. SECTION 2: The Mayor shall sign and the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this Ordinance and shall cause the same, or the summary thereof, to be published and posted pursuant to the provisions of law and this Ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days after passage.
