Ready, City Manager BY: Special Projects Coordinator SUMMARY The proposed action is approval of a 48 month contract with Time Warner Cable to provide phone/internet/WiFi services to the Welwood Murray Memorial Library(WMML). RECOMMENDATION: 1. Authorize the City Manager to execute a 48 month contract with Time Warner Cable to provide phone/internet/WiFi service to the Welwood Murray Memorial Library. STAFF ANALYSIS: Phone service to the WMML was previously provided by Verizon via a conduit that actually runs thru the Plaza Las Flores facility. There was no previous internet service to the building. Staff met with both Verizon and Time Warner to see if we could find a way for both to service the building thru the one 2" conduit; we were looking for phone service from Verison and Internet/WiFi from Time Warner. Verizon refused to share the conduit with Time Warner (even though it is our conduit) so staff requested a proposal from Time Warner to provide all the required services. Time Warner Cable has offered a 48 month contract, copy attached. FISCAL IMPACT: The proposed contract is for a 48 month period, to provide 10 business phone lines, internet services and WiFi. The monthly cost is set at $656.15, which includes unlimited local and long distance for $29.95/month per line.
