What is Up with People? Up with People is a non-profit global education organization focused on bringing the world together through service and music.There are five main components of our program.These components are the sources to spread awareness and gain understanding about the world. Five Components of the Up with People Program 1. International Participants(100 students,age 17-29) • Young People from around the world join our program. o Cast's represents 20-30 different countries. 2.World Travel(visit 3 distinct regions of the world during a six-month or 12 month program) • By visiting other countries and cultures our participants get abetter understanding of their own culture, habits and traditions. 3. Community Service • In each city we visit we undertake service projects based on the needs in the particular community in order to shine alight on different organizations who perform a valuable services for the city,spread hope and encourage local community members to get involved. 4.Global Education Program—Up with People is an accredited program in the United States • This component is reached in several ways through experiential learning: o Visit local historical sights and invite guest speakers to facilitate discussions o Global Education Series: research and present issues based on global perspectives. Each semester,UWP will offer three 4-credit courses taught by Florida Southern College faculty and supported by UWP staff. Transcripts for successfully completed coursework will be issued by FSC and will be transferable to other universities,with approval by the receiving university. Enrollment at FSC is not a requirement for participation. Enrollment in this academic program is optional and any UWP applicant who would like to add the academic program to his/her semester must also meet the enrollment requirements specific to the academic program. Staff Facilitators Up with People has a staff:student ratio of 1:5,thereby ensuring quality connection,mentorship and guidance throughout the tour.All staff members have specific roles and expertise but they work as a team to ensure that students receive a full and well- rounded educational experience.The staff includes an Education Manager and Education Coordinators who specialize in the areas of Interpersonal and Cross-Cultural Communication,Leadership and Service Learning.Other staff members are responsible for operations,marketing,admissions,finance and tour management.The performing arts team has instructors in dance,voice, lighting,sound and stage management.
