Welwood Murray Memorial Library Construction Kick-off!
On May 6, 2014 Mayor Pougnet, members of City Council and the Library Board of
Trustees had a construction kids-off ceremony in celebration of the renovation beginning
on the Welwood Murray Memorial Library. Interior design plans were on display,keep-
ing in mind the timeless design that could represent the 1940s when the building first
opened, and the functionality and technology needs of today. The Library will house
three groups and serve three purposes. It will be a branch of the Palm Springs Public
Library offering public computers, magazines and newspapers for the public as well as
limited programming and public meeting access in the community room. The Palm Springs
Historical Society will move their archives and historical research to this location and the
Bureau of Tourism will offer tourist information and services. The City is excited to have this important corner of downtown
reopen as it continues its revitalization of downtown. Track the progress of this project at www.polmspringslibrary.org
