Ready, City Manager BY: Special Projects Coordinator SUMMARY The proposed action is to amend the contract with Jeffrey Jurasky & Associates to add two additional entryway sign locations as well as landscape design services. RECOMMENDATION: 1. Approve Amendment No. 1 to Agreement No. 6492 with Jeffrey Jurasky & Associates adding two additional entry way sign locations, landscape design services and increasing the fees to compensate for these extra assignments as well as previously provided computer generated exhibits. STAFF ANALYSIS: The Entryway Sign design concept was presented to the full City Council and it received overwhelming support to the point of directing staff to work with the design team to add two additional sites to the project; Dinah Shore and Indian Avenue. After discussing this with the design team an amendment to the contract was developed which added the two additional sites as well as landscape design services for all four of the islands and compensation for previously provided computer generated exhibits; the amendment is attached. Rey,-Fger Attachment: Amendment 02 AMENDMENT NO. 1 AGREEMENT NO. 6492 — ENTRYWAY SIGNAGE DESIGN SERVICES THIS FIRST AMENDMENT ("First Amendment") to Agreement No. 6492 for Entryway Signage Design Services, (herein "Amendment") made and entered into on the 4th day of December, 2014, by and between the CITY OF PALM SPRINGS (herein "City") and Jeffrey Jurasky & Associates, Inc ("Consultant"), as follows: RECITALS A. City and Consultant entered into the Agreement on February 18, 2014 for Entryway Signage design services described in a Proposal from the Consultant dated January 14, 2014 ("Original Proposal") and attached to the Agreement as a part of Exhibit "A" of the Agreement entitled "Consultant's Scope of Services/Work." B. The parties wish to amend the Agreement to add two additional sign locations as well as landscape design services. NOW, THEREFORE, for good and sufficient consideration, the parties agree as follows: Section 1. Add additional services as outlined Jeffrey Jurasky & Associates, Inc. amendment proposal dated November 24, 2014 (copy attached); add fees of $7920 for this work. Section 2. Full Force and Effect: Except as previously modified herein, all other provisions of the Agreement shall remain unmodified in full force and effect. This"Amended Proposal"is essentially an overview of the additional Scope of Work as requested by the City of Palm Springs after approving the design direction as presented by 33&A and Gary Wexler Design, and will act as the amended Design Development Agreement. With the engagement of additional consultants for the pre-construction and construction phases of the project development, these costs will be invoiced at cost plus 15%. SCOPE OF WORK The scope of work for this project will consist of the entire landscape area around each of the four signs. Our work will include the site design grading, boulder selection and location and the plantings around each sign. We will work very closely with you throughout our service. LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES A. Design Phase — We will prepare design studies for review as necessary. We will also prepare a preliminary landscape budget for your review. Upon your acceptance of these studies we will prepare a hard-line drawing of the final design. We will submit our drawings for approval to the local governing agencies. Construction Documents and Specifications — We will prepare drawings as necessary to enable construction of the landscape design. These will consist of the following: layout plan, aradina plan, irrigation plan, planting plan . y C. Project Construction — I will make periodic trips to the site during the construction process to see that the work is being carried on in accordance with our plans and specifications. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION Our compensation for the above services will be in accordance with the following schedule: A. Design Phase $800.00 Commencement fee $400.00 Completion of phase $400.00 B. Construction Documents Our compensation for this portion of our service will be the lump sum of $800.00 C. Project Construction This time will be rendered upon your request for the lump sutra of $2,400.00 TOTAL $4,000.00 D. All Reproduction work 800.00 Total $4,800.00 All reproduction work will be billed at cost plus 18%. Travel by auto authorized by client, out of the desert area, will be billed at 55.5 cents per mile. You will be billed monthly based on the work accomplished during that period. Bills not paid within 30 days will accrue interest at the rate of 1.5% per month. Consultants: Should the services of outside consultants be asked for and required, such as a structural engineer, or plant pathologist, they will be billed at cost plus 15%. t18 Work extra to this contract: Should it be necessary to perform services outside the scope of this contract, these services will be rendered upon your request in accordance with the following hourly rate schedule: Landscape Architect Principal's time $185.00 Landscape Architect Assistant's time $ 85.00 Required Information: Needed will be a current layout drawing of the project scope areas locating existing handscape and softscape elements drawn to scale. In the event that current layout drawings are not available from the City we will arrange for a site survey to gather the information necessary to proceed with our work. Our fee for this will be the direct cost for the survey plus 15% for our management of the work. If the above proposal meets with your approval, please signify acceptance by signing a copies and returning one to me along with your commencement fee. After 30 days from the date of this proposal, if not signed, the offer to perform the described services and specific details of these services will be withdrawn.
