Ready, City Manager BY: AIRPORT SUMMARY The action considers approving the purchase of new carpet for the Airport's main terminal building high traffic areas. RECOMMENDATION: 1. Approve the purchase of new carpet for the Airport's main terminal as per the specifications from Del's Flooring Contractors Inc. of Palm Desert, CA, in the amount not to exceed of$41,650.24. 2. Authorize City Manager to execute all necessary documents, including the Purchase Order. STAFF ANALYSIS: The main terminal at Palm Springs International Airport has carpet that was newly installed in 2008. Although the majority of the carpet remains in good condition, the higher passenger movement areas are showing excessive wear and need to be replaced to maintain a high caliber appearance. Approximately 740 cubic feet of new carpet tiles will be needed to address the required areas. The style and specifications of the carpet are equivalent to the existing so that the fit and appearance will blend well. Using the original carpet tile specification, quotes were received from five local vendors who can supply the carpet: ITEM NO. 7 City Council Staff Report April 15, 2015 -- Page 2 Purchase New Carpet Tiles Vendor Price Quote Del's Flooring Contractors $41,650.24 Daniel's DKI $45,790.66 Miller Carpets $45,987.72 The Works Floor + Wall $47,518.85 Carpet Empire Plus $52,261.11 Del's Flooring Contractors was the lowest responsive quote for the carpet tile material, including applicable sales tax and shipping for a total cost of$41,650.24.
