SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF THE PALM SPRINGS UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT'S
DESIGNATION OF A NON-VOTING MEMBER TO THE PARKS AND
RECREATION COMMISSION WITH NO TERM ENDING

SUMMARY:
The Palm Springs Unified School District is designating a representative to serve on the
Parks and Recreation Commission.
RECOMMENDATION:
Receive and file the Palm Springs Unified School District's selection of Ellen Goodman as
a member of the Parks and Recreation Commission with no term ending.
STAFF ANALYSIS:
In accordance with Section 2.18.010(b) of the Palm Springs Municipal Code the Palm
Springs Unified School District Superintendent or designee may serve as a nonvoting
member to act as a liaison between the commission and the district.
The City has received notification from the district of their designation of Ellen Goodman as
a member of the Parks and Recreation Commission.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None.

The purpose of this letter is to recommend that Ms. Ellen Goodman, Palm Springs Unified School
District Foundation Director, be officially appointed as the District's representative to the Palm
Springs Parks and Recreation Commission.
Ellen is very qualified for this position and would be an asset to the Commission. She lives in Palm
Springs and is actively involved in the District's Health and Wellness initiative. We look forward to
collaborating with the City in the area of Parks and Recreation to support quality programming for
Palm Springs children.

community.
