Accept SLESA Grant Funding
The City has been awarded $100,000 for Fiscal Year 2015-2016. The SLESA Grant
can be spent for a variety of law enforcement expenditures as long as they are used for
frontline municipal police services.
The funds will used to purchase new computer components and technology, including
hardware, program software, and other equipment essential to installation, use and
maintenance and to replace outdated officer safety equipment and accessories. The
SLESA funds will be distributed throughout this list of items.
This request is to meet the requirements of SB 823 enacted in April of 2002. The bill
amended Government Code Sections 30061 and 30063, requiring City Councils to
appropriate the funds exclusively for law enforcement.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This will have no impact on the General Fund and there are no matching funds required.
