SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT TO THE COACHELLA VALLEY MOSQUITO AND
VECTOR CONTROL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES.

SUMMARY
The City Council will consider the appointment of the City's representative to the
Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District Board of Trustees.
RECOMMENDATION:
Appoint Dr. Douglas Kunz to the Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District
Board of Trustees for the term ending December 31, 2017.
STAFF ANALYSIS:
The Palm Springs City Council is designated to appoint a Palm Springs resident to the
Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District Board of Trustees. The Primary
function of the Board is the establishment of policies and the definition of guidelines.
The Board of Trustees is comprised of eleven Trustees each from one of the nine
incorporated cities of the Coachella Valley and two from the County at Large. Pursuant
to the Health and Safety Code terms are two or four years, at the discretion of the
appointing authority, and they commence on the first Monday in January.
The Office of the City Clerk posted a notice of vacancy in January of 2016 and the City
received one application for appointment from Dr. Douglas Kunz.
The City Council Subcommittee (Mayor Moon/Mayor Pro Tern Mills) recommends the
appointment of Dr. Douglas Kunz for the term ending December 31, 2017.
