CITY COUNCIL STAFF REPORT C,04 I FO R `P c„hk��ve� \o �e ka�, 2o1b � DATE: SepternbeF� :, _� B SI ESS SUBJECT: APPROVE FIFTEEN GRANT APPLICATIONS OF UP TO $5,000 EACH IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE 2014/2015 FACADE IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM GUIDELINES FROM: David H. Ready, City Manager BY: Community & Economic Development Department SUMMARY Approve fifteen (15) Facade Improvement Grant Applications that were placed on hold during 2015. The applications are in two categories; those that completed the work and those that have not completed the work. The approval for each application will allow staff to work with the applicants to complete the paperwork necessary to execute agreements and close the grant files. RECOMMENDATION: 1. Approve Facade Improvement Grant applications and authorize payments not to exceed $5,000 each, wherein qualifying work has been completed at: House 849, Modern Home Design, Chill Bar, MCB Properties, MCB Properties-Matt Bousquette, Timberlake Holdings, Palm Springs Art & Design Gallery, Pho 533, and Desert Landscape/Figg Studios; and 2. Approve Facade Improvement Grant applications and authorize payments not to exceed $5,000 each, wherein qualifying work has not yet been completed at: Knights Inn Palm Springs, The LGBT Community Center, HJH Construction, Greek Island Restaurant, Peabody's Cafe, and Lola Properties; and 3. Authorize the City Manager to execute all documents related to the Facade Improvement Grant Agreements and payments upon audit of all documentation by Economic Development and Finance Departments and review by the City Attorney. STAFF ANALYSIS: On June 27, 2016, the Business Retention Council Subcommittee reviewed and discussed the Facade Grant Program, which was originally initiated in 2014. The Council Subcommittee (Kors/Foat) directed staff to process applications that were placed on hold between November 2014 and December 2015. ITEM NO..
