A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, RATIFYING THE ANNUAL
ADJUSTMENT OF THE ACCESS LINE RATE PURSUANT
TO PALM SPRINGS MUNICIPAL CODE §3.39.050
APPROVED BY THE VOTERS BY MEASURE "G".
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS DOES HEREBY FIND
AS FOLLOWS:
A. At the November 9, 2009 Regular Municipal Election, the voters passed
Measure "G" imposing an Access Line Tax.
B. Pursuant to Palm Springs Municipal Code §3.39.050, the voters approved
an annual adjustment in accordance with the increase of the Consumer Price Index.
Such annual adjustment is to commence after December 31, 2010.
C. The Consumer Price Index: All Urban Consumers for the Los Angeles-
Riverside-Orange County Standard Metropolitan Statistical Area for All Items as
reported by the United Stated Bureau of Labor Statistics is 2.0% for the period of
January 1, 2016 and December 31, 2016.
D. Based on the CPI the annual adjustment is as follows: two (2) cents per
month per access line, and nineteen (19) cents per month per trunk line.
E. The estimated total amount of the annual adjustment for all
telecommunication users for a one-year period is approximately $20,000.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The amount of the Access Line Tax pursuant to Palm Springs
Municipal Code §3.39.050 shall be adjusted as follows:
Access Line $1.25 per month per access line.
Trunk Line $9.48 per month per trunk line.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed and authorized to amend the
Access Line Tax pursuant to voter approved Measure "G" and Palm Springs Municipal
Code §3.39.050.
SECTION 3. The Director of Finance is hereby directed and authorized to
provide written notice to service providers pursuant to §799(a)(5) of the Public Utilities
Code of the State of California.
