HomeMy WebLinkAbout5/17/2017 - STAFF REPORTS - 00 Wednesday, May 17, 2017 From: Lee Wilson Jr./Palm Springs Fallen Heroes Project To: Mayor Robert Moon/Palm Springs City Council Subj: Proposed City Proclamation to Honor GOLD STAR FAMILIES of our 27 Palm Springs Fallen Heroes To Whom It May Concern: My name is Lee Wilson Jr. and I teach World and U.S. History at Cathedral City High School. I am also the founder of the Palm Springs Fallen Heroes Project. I humbly request a proclamation in honor of our 27 local Palm Springs Fallen Heroes for Memorial Day, Monday, May 29, 2017. The city council and previous mayor graciously accommodated my request a few years ago. I request another proclamation to coincide with the grand opening of the new Korean WarNietnam War aircraft hangar at the Palm Springs Air Museum. As you know, the air museum performs a flower drop on Memorial Day. Over the years, I've helped in their efforts by bringing in our Gold Star families to participate in the ceremonies. A proclamation from Palm Springs honoring their sacrifice would complement the air museum's ceremonies. I have attached a sample copy of a proclamation that I used last time. If possible, could I have at least five copies to give to the family members in attendance. It is necessary to have this accomplished in time for Memorial Day on Monday, May 29. Please see the attached copy for your review and revisions. Respectfully submitted, Lee C. Wilson Jr. Historian, Palm Springs Fallen Heroes Project 223 N.
