Ready, City Manager BY: Fire Department SUMMARY It is recommended that the City Council award the purchase of twelve Task Force Tip (TFT) nozzles to outfit three new fire engines that the City will take possession of in November 2017. RECOMMENDATION: 1. Award the purchase of twelve complete Task Force Tip (TFT) nozzles to outfit three new fire engines from LN Curtis & Sons of La Mirada, CA in the amount of$40,439.68 including applicable sales tax and delivery. 2. Authorize the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. STAFF ANALYSIS: The fire department has utilized Task Force Tip (TFT) nozzles exclusively for 30+ years. These nozzles are automatic, pressure sensing nozzles that deliver variable gallons per minute. This particular nozzle brand is what is known to fire department personnel from the Engineer position, relative to delivering proper pump pressure to a fire attack hose line, to the firefighter actually responsible for the delivery of the fire stream to suppress the fire. The TFT nozzle has proven to be dependable and resilient over the long period of time of service with the fire department. TFT nozzles are the standard throughout the department, and are the only nozzle brand currently in use. The procurement and contracting department worked closely with fire department staff to prepare specifications for this equipment and conducted a Request for Quote (RFQ 2018-02) which was sent to twelve prospective vendors on September 28, 2017. It is recommended that Council approve a purchase order to LN Curtis & Sons in the amount of $40,439.68 for twelve Task Force Tip nozzles which is inclusive of applicable sales tax and shipping costs.
