Presented
to
Joseph Aguanno
Josepli Aguanno and leis wife of 28 years, Denise have been Palm Springs
resident since 1989. Joe raised Isis own P5 high 5ckool graduate, Kristen, along with
making significant contributions to the raising of hundreds of otlier students in those 23
years as an administrator in the Palm Springs (Anified School District.
Joe started leis Palm Springs career at Raymond Cree Middle School, going on to
Palm Springs High in 1993 where he leas been the Assistant Principal ever since. He
solved problems, s9uelc6ed "fires" and worked with a fabulous team of educators to mold,
encourage, support and positively influence high school students. Joe is most proud (and
deservedly so) of his participation and leadership in the P5H5 PALM -Academy for
learning medicine, whit{, leas been recognized by tke state of California as a model program
and premier academy.
Our wish for Assistant Principal Aguanno, now that Ise won't be solving as many
major teenage crisis's (do they ever go away?) is that lie will lave time for more fun with
Denise and Kristen, more biking across the state of California, more climbing mountains
(Mount Whitney?Wow!) more joy in this next chapter of leis life. He is not abandoning our
community - you will still find him working as a lieutenant witli the Palm Springs Mounted
Police Search and Rescue Team or serving on several City boards and commissions,
includingt6e Human Rights Commission. (Teen-alters are human too, as I understand it.)
Join me in congratulating Joe on his retirement and thanking him for all his years of
giving back to our city. I wish him good health and the means to a retirement as interesting
and full as Isis career.
Presented this 20t6 day of June 2012.
