HomeMy WebLinkAbout4/20/2011 - STAFF REPORTS - 00 L Trrfifirafr of City of Palm Springs CALIFORNIA Presented to LISA GURZI LISA GURZI, a Registered Nurse at Desert Regional Medical Center, is fulfilling her lifelong dream of helping women make a smoother transition into motherhood as Nurse/Manager of the Healthy Beginnings program. Through the program, she and her staff of nurses assist parents-to-be and new parents by teaching childbirth, breast feeding, infant CPR and newborn care classes to families. Lisa became an RN more than 13 years ago, attending College of the Desert, and pursuing becoming an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant at the University of San Diego. She has been described as a true leader and advocate for women and their health issues, as well as a dedicated and professional nurse. By sharing her time and expertise with fellow health care colleagues, there is no doubt that she is making a positive difference in peoples' lives. Lisa was recently recognized by Supervisor John Benoit as the "Riverside County Woman of the Year for the Fourth District," acknowledging her outstanding community service and leadership on women's issues, thereby making Riverside County a better place. In addition to her work with Healthy Beginnings, Lisa is the mother of three children, James - 22, Julia - 15, and Justin - 14, and is a grandmother to Lauren, age three. On behalf of the City Council and the citizens of the City of Palm Springs, I am honored to recognize LISA GURZI and express appreciation for her outstanding contributions to the community.
