HomeMy WebLinkAbout1/5/2011 - STAFF REPORTS - 00 (2) Clertifirate of Nypreahtfian City of Palm Springs CALIFORNIA MIKE WILLS began his career with the Patin Springs Fire Department as a firefighter on APRIL 9, 1979 and rose through the ranks to become fire suppression captain in 1986. During his entire 33 years of service he has had the well-being and safety of the City of Patin Springs and our community foremost in his mina.. Milne served five years as a firefighter, providing emergency medical services, fire prevention and. fire suppression activities for our city and community and two years as a fire apparatus operator maintaining Fire Department emergency vehicles in a state of readiness, safely driving and operating apparatus during emergency incidents. He served 26 as a fire suppression captain carrying out fire suppression activities, life saving measures, teaching specialized training in auto extrication and swift water rescue to firefighters, and presenting public education classes to the community. Mike has been instrumental in the development of the Fire Departments computer technology transition, computer aided dispatch program, pre-fire planning program, and has provided his expertise in developing audio/video presentations for the Fire Department. Additionally, he was instrumental in the implementation of the GIS Mapping Program. His commitment to the Fire Department Physical Fitness Program has helped our members become much more health conscious. On behalf of the City of Palm Springs and the City Council, I am honored to present this Certificate of Appreciation to MIKE WILLS and express our gratitude for his extraordinary public service in his roles as firefighter, apparatus operator, and fire suppression captain during his 33 years working for the City. We wish him many happy days in his well-deserved retirement. Presented this 5tk day of January 2011.
