HomeMy WebLinkAbout- STAFF REPORTS - 00WHEREAS, TERRY TATUM was hired by the City of Palm Springs in March of 1977 in the Parks & Recreation Department, eventually transferring to the Department of Building and Safety; and WHEREAS, Parks & Recreation's loss was the gain of the Building Department, where Terry spent the rest of his career with the City, working his way up from Inspector Trainee, Building Inspector, Senior Building Inspector, Building & Safety Supervisor and finally, Building Official; and WHEREAS, Terry's many years as a resident of our fair City has made him the first choice of Police & Fire for who to call, day or night (mostly night), from the Building Department and now Dispatch will have to break in someone new after all this time; and WHEREAS, Terry's career paralleled a rich family life consisting of his smart and beautiful wife, Nila and their three gorgeous daughters, each of whom were escorted by their dad as members of homecoming court and each of whom has contributed to the making of Terry a grandpa; and WHEREAS, along with most of his daylight hours spent working for the City and most of the rest of his hours devoted to his family, Terry still managed to find the time to generously contribute to the youth of Palm Springs by coaching AYSO soccer, high school soccer, high school volleyball, high school basketball and working with the Boys and Girls Club; and WHEREAS, Terry may not know for sure how he plans to spend the next chapter of his life but he knows for sure he's ready to give it a go. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Stephen P. Pougnet, Mayor of the City of Palm Springs, California, want to thank TERRY TATUM for the dedication he has given to this City, thank him for a job well done, wish him a healthy and happy retirement, forever free of red tags, and by the power vested in me, do hereby proclaim December 5, 2012 to be: TERRY TATUM DAY
