BCITY COUNCIL STAFF REPORT DATE: July 18, 2007 Consent Agenda SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS/AUTHORIZATION TO BID — DEMOLITION OF HOLD-ROOMS A & B. FROM: David Ready, City Manager BY: Department of Aviation SUMMARY This action would be to recommend City Council approval of the Plans and Specifications and authorize bidding of the Demolition of Airport Hold-rooms A & B, City Project No. 07-08. RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Minute Order No. approving Plans and Specifications for and authorizing the bidding of the Demolition of Temporary Airport Hold rooms A & B, City Project # 07- 08. STAFF ANALYSIS: The new Hold-room project is due to be completed in September. As soon as the move from the old temporary hold-rooms (Hold-rooms A & B) is complete the structure will be stripped of salvageable equipment and it will be ready for demolition. Staff has been working with Gensler, airport architect, to develop plans and specifications for the demolition of Hold-rooms A & B; City Project # 07-08. The project will include removing the temporary hold-rooms and the canopies that lead to the boarding gates, backfilling the sub-floor area, planting of sod and providing for temporary security fencing for the courtyard area. The existing canopy that leads from the checkpoint to the Bono Concourse will be left in place to provide lighting and public address as well as cover from the elements for the passengers. This will allow for the two concession carts to remain in-place for the coming fall thru spring. In May of 2008 it is planned to commence the re-working of the main courtyard and the old checkpoint area at which time the remaining temporary canopies would be removed. ITEM NO.
