FAA GRANT ACCEPTANCE
ADDED STARTER:
Subsequent to the posting of the Agenda, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
advised that special grants to assist airports in covering increased security
requirements may be forthcoming and would need to be accepted prior to October 1,
2001.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that City Council authorize the City Managerto accept grants from
the FAA related to the Airport's response to the September 11,2001 terrorists attacks.
SUMMARY:
This action would allow the City Manager to accept grant offers from the FAA to assist
the Airport in meeting new security mandates.
BACKGROUND:
Early morning on September 17, 2001, the FAA contacted the Airport asking for
funding needs (operational and capital) in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001
terrorists attacks. If funds are made available, grants must be accepted prior to
October 1, 2001.
A Minute Order is attached which would authorize the City Manager to accept any
grants offered.

ASSIST THE AIRPORT IN ITS SECURITY
RESPONSE TO THE TERRORISTS ATTACKS
OF SEPTEMBER 11, 2001.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that this Minute Order authorizing the City Manager to
accept Federal Aviation Administration grants offered to assist the Airport in
its security response to the terrorists attacks of September 11, 2001, was
adopted by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, California, in a
meeting thereof held on the 1 g'h day of September 2001.
