government has increased, not to mention a substantial increase to the time
commitment of the Mayor and City Council to meet the needs of the community.
The proposed ordinance, in compliance with the Palm Springs City Charter Section 304,
provides an adequate increase in the compensation for the Mayor and City
Councilmembers relative to other cities in the Coachella Valley. Additionally, much like
many other cities the proposed ordinance implements a cost of living increase every two
years following a municipal election,
FISCAL IMPACT:
Additional salary cost for fiscal year 2007-08 in the amount of $36,831. It is anticipated
that salary savings on the city-wide basis will be sufficient to offset the increased
compensation, and the need for a budget adjustment is not necessary.
