AIRPORT FIRE STATION EXPANSION - DOMESTIC AND FIRE SERVICE WATER
VALVES
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council approve the installation of domestic and fire
service water valves related to the expansion of the Airport Fire Station (City Project
#2000-32), with Desert Water Agency (DWA), in an amount not-to-exceed $9,308.
SUMMARY:
The expansion of the Airport Fire Station #2 has a Building Code requirement for fire
protection sprinklers within the expansion area. DWA will provide and install the
necessary valves in order to utilize an existing fire hydrant service, which is located at
the station.
BACKGROUND:
DWA currently provides a fire hydrant service to Fire Station #2, which is utilized for
training and refill of fire apparatus. Due to the differing requirements between fire
hydrants and building fire sprinklers, various types of valves are required in order
utilize the existing fire hydrant service for fire sprinklers. See the attached quotation
for additional information
The attached Minute Order would approve this work in an amount not-to-exceed
$9,308.The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)Airport Improvement Program(AIP)
grant will cover 90% of the costs. Funds are available in account 415-60-6600-56045,
AIP 32 ARFF Vehicle/Building.

This Agency proposes to provide domestic water service to the above-mentioned
project and has established fees and charges for providing such service.
"Charges on Invoice" are established amounts and not subject to adjustments. Prices
are subject to change without notice.
"Adjustable Funds" are estimates only, subject to any price change and open to final
accounting. Any monies remaining above actual costs will be returned to you and any
difference above estimates will be billed to you.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that this Minute Order, Authorizing Desert Water
Agency (DWA) to provide and install domestic and fire service protection
valves related to the expansion of the Airport Fire Station (City Project
#2000-32), in an amount not-to-exceed $9,308, was adopted by the City
Council of the City of Palm Springs, California, in a meeting thereof held on
the 19`h day of September, 2001.
