INDLA.NS INDIAN GAMING SPECIAL DISTRIBUTION FUND FISCAL YEAR 2006/2007 HIGHLIGHTS The Special Indian Gaming Distribution Fund sponsored by the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians provided the City of Palm Springs with $1,385,190 this current fiscal year. These funds provided four additional police patrol officers to patrol around the casino, an officer to run the DARE program and an officer to run the PAL program. The grant also helped offset costs at the "Downtown Experience" Office. The funding also provided for three firefighter/paramedics at Station One, and the costs of the MICN Nurse, which oversees the City's paramedic ALS program. Besides personnel, SDE grants also provided for the down payment for a new 105 foot aerial ladder truck and a new mobile mapping computer system for each of the City's fire engines. The City submits quarterly progress reports on their expenditures to the Commission. Attached are the quarterly reports for the period ending in March 2007. Listed below is a more detailed breakdown of the grants, their programs and their expenditures through May 2007, PALM SPRINGS POLICE DEPARTMENT GRANT AMOUNT AMOUNT EXPENDED PROGRAM $212,000 $199,280 Two grants provide for continued funding of two additional uniformed Palm Springs Police Officers to patrol around the Casino area. $212,000 $196,160 This grant provides for an additional two uniformed Palm Springs Police Officers and related equipment to patrol the downtown and the area around the Casino. There are four police officers supported by these grants. _ _ &/v Ile no 7 $ 59,000 $59,000 Provides for the costs of a DARE officer to coordinate the City's Drug Prevention Program and various drug prevention materials. $ 61,808 $56,864 Helps offset part of the costs to man the City's "Downtown Experience" Office_ $ 60,758 $58,758 Provides funding through two grants for a PAL officer to coordinate the recreational activities of the Police Athletic League for the youth of Palm Springs. $605,566 $670,062 Total police grants for the current fiscal year. PALM SPRINGS FIRE DEPARTMENT GRANT AMOUNT AMOUNT EXPENDED PROGRAM $378,957 $360,009 This grant provides for the funding of three firefighter/paramedics who are located at the downtown fire station and are the first responders to calls at the Casino and the Spa Hotel_ $258,667 $258,667 Provided for the down payment for a new 105 foot aerial ladder truck that will used to respond to calls in the downtown area. $117,000 $117,000 This grant provided for the placement of a mobile mapping computer system in each fire engine or truck. This will allow for quicker responses by the appropriate engine or truck. $ 25,000 $23,450 Provided for the costs of the MICN Nurse who oversaw the City's paramedic ALS program $779,624 $759,126 Total fire grants for the current fiscal year. $1,385,190 $1,329,188 TOTAL FUNDS RECEIVED FOR CURRENT FISCAL YEAR. - 2- FISCAL YEAR 2007/2008 HIGHLIGHTS The Special Indian Gaming Distribution Committee approved $1,068,885 to the City of Palm Springs for the next fiscal year. Please describe the status of project completion: The AG12 project has allowed us to continue to fund two Casino Bicycle Officers that are specifically assigned to the area surrounding the Spa Resort Casino and the Downtown area,which is affected by the increased tourism related to the Casino. This has been a multi-year project,and the AG-17-06 grant allowed us to pay for increased contracted employee costs. The AG-16-06 grant allowed us to hire two additional downtown Casino Bicycle Officers. We are in the process of hiring those officers, and their deployment will provide coverage in the area of the Casino _ seven days per week. 2.
