Ready, City Manager Initiated by: Public Works and Engineering Department SUMMARY This year, there are two locations where localized drainage improvements are proposed to cure drainage and flooding problems; one is located on Patencio Lane, and the other is located on Araby Circle. Award of this contract will allow staff to proceed with the drainage improvements proposed on Patencio Lane. RECOMMENDATION: 1) Adopt Minute Order No. "APPROVING AGREEMENT NO. IN THE AMOUNT OF $50,990.00 WITH B & T WORKS, INC., FOR THE PATEN= LANE DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS, CITY PROJECT NO. 06-17 (PHASE 1)," and 2) Authorize the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. STAFF ANALYSIS: The Public Works and Engineering Department previously budgeted funds for localized drainage improvements at two locations: Patencio Lane and Araby Circle. Staff has proceeded with the Patencio Lane project, which will cure a localized flooding problem on that street. Currently, Patencio Lane drains to its east end, where a private residence has constructed a trench drain and sump pump to intercept street runoff and drain it off-site (onto adjacent private property). In larger storms, the private residence has had flooding problems. The proposed improvements include reconstruction of Patencio Lane with an inverted cross-section, and construction of new catch basin and storm drain pipe to outlet the street runoff through the adjacent property downstream to South Monte Vista Drive, ITEM NO. City Council Staff Report June 6, 2007 - Page 2 Patencio Lane Drainage Improvements (CP 06-17 Phase 1) The plans and specifications were prepared by Department staff, and on April 24 and May 1, the project was advertised for bids, and at 2:00 P.M. on May 22, 2007, the Procurement and Contracting Division received construction bids from the following contractors: 1. Vasily Company, Inc.; Shadow Hills, CA 2. Tri Star Contracting, Inc.; Desert Hot Springs, CA 3. O'Dufty Construction; Romoland, CA 4. Sim Engineering, Inc.; Fallbrook, CA 5. B & T Works, Inc.; Wildomar, CA Refer to Attachment 1 for the Bid Summary. The Engineer's Estimate was $35,580. The low bid was submitted by B & T Works, Inc. The company is a California corporation, and its principal officer is Giovanni Nanci, P res i d e nt/Secreta ry/Tre a s u re r.
