Subject: APPROVAL OF AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO THE CVAG GRANT
REIMBURSEMENT AGREEMENT NO. 4394 FOR THE INDIAN CANYON
DRIVE STREET AND BRIDGE WIDENING, CITY PROJECT NO. 01-11.

SUMMARY
Approval of this Amendment increases the total authorized Regional Measure A amount
by $50,100 to $1,625,275 for the Indian Canyon Drive Street and Bridge Widening, City
Project No. 01-11.
RECOMMENDATION:
1) Approve Minute Order No. "APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO THE
CVAG GRANT REIMBURSEMENT AGREEMENT,AGREEMENT NO. 4394, FOR
THE INDIAN CANYON DRIVE STREET AND BRIDGE WIDENING PROJECT IN
IN THE AMOUNT OF $50,100 FOR A REVISED TOTAL REGIONAL MEASURE
A AMOUNT OF $1,625,275, CITY PROJECT NO, 01-11."
2) Authorize the City Manager to execute all necessary documents.
STAFF ANALYSIS:
On September 5, 2001, City Council approved a Grant Reimbursement Agreement with
CVAG (A#4394) providing all of the Match Funding for the referenced Indian Canyon
Widening projects. On May 21, 2003, City Council approved Amendment#1 to said Grant
Reimbursement Agreement, providing an increase of $28,300. On February 26, 2007,
CVAG Executive Committee approved Amendment#2, providing an increase of$50,100
in the authorized Regional Measure A Funding for this project, due to the prolonged
schedule caused by several factors related to changes in Caltrans requirements for the
Environmental Documents, such as format changes, additional analysis, Caltrans
personnel changes and changes in the Caltrans review process.

The cost estimate for the Indian Canyon Drive Street and Railroad Bridge Widening
projects now total $3,172,150. Total Regional Measure A amount is $1,625,275.
Elsewhere in this Consent Agenda, Council will be considering approval of the actual
change order to the Design Engineering agreement with Dokken Engineering. Approval
of the CVAG Agreement under this item should precede approval of the Dokken
Engineering Agreement.

$1,625,275, City Project No. 01-11, was adopted by the City Council of the City of Palm
Springs, California, in a meeting thereof held on the 21st day of March, 2007.

INCLUDING RAILROAD CROSSING BRIDGETV
AMENDMENT NUMBER TWO/ADDITIONAL DESIGN ENGINEERING FUNDS
THIS AMENDMENT NUMBER TWO is made and entered into thus_day of
2007,by and between the Coachella Valley Association of Governments,a California joint powers
agency,("CVAG"),and the City of Palm Springs ("Agency"), and is made with reference to the
following background facts and circumstances:
This amendment obligates and authorizes for expenditure,funds not previously authorized under
the terms ofthe existing reimbursement agreement for the"Indian Avenue from Garnet(South of I-10)to
and Including Railroad Crossing Bridge"('the Project"),dated September 5,2001 or Amendment Number
One, dated May 21, 2003- All other provisions are considered in force.
This amendment mnnbertwo shall authorize additional design engineering funds in the amount not
to exceed$50,100. Agency is requesting additional funds for the design consultant who encountered an
extensive schedule impact. The prolonged schedule was due to several factors related to changes in
Caltrans'requirements for Environmental Documents(such as format changing,additional analysis),
Caltrans personnel changes, and to the Caltrans review process.
