Members of the City Council and those citizens in attendance expressed concern with the current proposal under consideration. At issue was the placement of Desert Hot Springs into the fifth district, which in essence removes our city from the Coachella Valley representation of our fourth district Supervisor Roy Wilson. It also potentially weakens CVAG and reduces Desert Hot Springs to a near non-entity in an out-of-the-Valley district which will be dominated by cities and the City of Moreno Valley, which alone comprises nearly one-half the new proposed fifth district, Our city will be sending a contingent to this Tuesday's Board of Supervisor's meeting, at which time we will be expressing our concerns and displeasure with the proposed redistricting that so adversely affects Desert Hot Springs and its future in the Coachella Valley.
