FEBRUARY 21, 2007 CONSENT CALENDAR
Subject: APPROVAL OF PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS AND ESTIMATE
(PS&E) AND AUTHORIZATION TO BID THE PALM SPRINGS
STADIUM REPAINT, CITY PROJECT NO. 07-02

SUMMARY
This year, the Parks and Recreation Department has budgeted funds to repaint
the Palm Springs Stadium. The construction documents (Plans, Specifications
and Estimate) are being completed and, in accordance with 7.03.040 of the
Procurement and Contracting Code the Council is required to approve and adopt
plans, specifications and working details, and authorize the bid request for all
public projects in excess of $100,000, Approval of this project will allow staff to
proceed with this public project, with an estimated cost of approximately $100,000.
RECOMMENDATION:
1) Adopt Minute Order No. "APPROVING THE PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS
AND WORKING DETAILS FOR THE PALM SPRINGS STADIUM REPAINT, CITY
PROJECT 07-02, AND AUTHORIZING STAFF TO ADVERTISE AND SOLICIT
BIDS."
STAFF ANALYSIS:
The Parks and Recreation Department has budgeted funds to repaint the Palm
Springs Stadium. The existing agreement with the Palm Springs Power Baseball
team requires the completion of the exterior painting prior to June 1, 2007_ The
plans and specifications have been prepared by Department staff, and are ready
for Council approval and the subsequent advertisement for construction bids.
Section 7.03.040 of the Procurement and Contracting Code requires that for public
projects in excess of $100,000 Council approve and adopt the plans,
specifications and working details, and authorize staff to advertise for construction
bids. The final color selections will be approved by the Architectural Advisory
Committee and are being processed concurrently to expedite this project. The
Engineer's Estimate for this project is $100,000. Approval of the recommended
action will allow staff to proceed with bidding of this project, with a tentative bid
opening date of March 27, 2007, and an award date of April 4, 2007.

Minute Order Approving the plans, specifications and working details for the Palm
Springs Stadium Repaint, City Project No. 07-02, and authorizing staff to advertise
and solicit bids, was adopted by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs,
California, in a meeting thereof held on the 21st day of February, 2007.
