HomeMy WebLinkAbout1706 - ORDINANCES - 12/6/2006 ORDINANCE NO. 1706 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTIONS 2.16.010, 2.16.020, AND 2.16.030 OF THE PALM SPRINGS MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE PALM SPRINGS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT COMMISSION. City Attorney's Summary This Ordinance increases the membership of the Palm Springs International Airport Commission from 15 to 19 members, eliminates rotational memberships, and revises the appointment authority accordingly. The City Council of the City of Palm Springs ordains: SECTION 1. Section 2.16.010 of the Palm Springs Municipal Code is amended to read: 2.16.010 Definitions. For the purpose of this chapter: "Commission" means the Palm Springs international airport commission. SECTION 2. Section 2.16.020 of the Palm Springs Municipal Code is amended to read: 2.16.020 Membership—Creation. There is created in the city an international airport commission, which shall consist of nineteen members. The nineteen members shall be appointed in the following manner: ten members, appointed in accordance with Section 2.04.060 of the Palm Springs Municipal Code; eight members, one appointed by each of the cities of Cathedral City, Coachella, Desert Hot Springs, Indian Wells, Indio, La Quinta, Palm Desert, and Rancho Mirage, in the manner which each city shall determine; and a member appointed by the Board of Supervisors of Riverside County. SECTION 3. Section 2.16.030 of the Palm Springs Municipal Code is amended to read: 2.16.030 Membership—Terms. The term of office for regular members shall be as provided in Section 2.06.010 of the Palm Springs Municipal Code for all appointees SECTION 4. The two new members appointed by the City of Palm Springs pursuant to 1 Section 2 of this ordinance, shall serve for the initial term ending June 30, 2009. Ordinance No. 1706 Page 2 SECTION 5. The Mayor shall sign and the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and ' adoption of this Ordinance and shall cause the same, or the summary thereof, to be published and posted pursuant to the provisions of law and this Ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days after passage.
