SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF AN EXTENSION FOR A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR, TO
DECEMBER 31, 2007, WITH THE COUNTY OF RIVERSIDE, FOR REAL
PROPERTY LOCATED AT 3111 EAST TAHQUITZ CANYON WAY,
CURRENTLY OCCUPIED BY THE RIVERSIDE COUNTY DEPARTMENT
OF HEALTH

SUMMARY:
Riverside County leases property from the City at 3111 East Tahquitz Canyon Way,
pursuant to a Lease dated January 13, 1987. The Lease expired on June 30, 2006.
However, Section 1 of the Lease allowed the Term of Lease to be extended effective as
of July 1, 2006, on a month to month tenancy, for a period not to exceed six months,
with the expressed consent of the City. This amendment would extend the current
Lease for a period of one year, to December 31, 2007, which would give the County
enough time to complete construction on its Family Care Center on Sunrise Way
(originally part of the Vista Sunrise project, near Desert AIDS Project).
CITY COUNCIL RECOMMENDATION:
1. Adopt Minute Order No. , "A MINUTE ORDER OF CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING AMENDMENT NO.
1 TO A LEASE AGREEMENT WITH THE COUNTY OF RIVERSIDE,
CALIFORNIA, FOR REAL PROPERTY LOCATED AT 3111 EAST TAHQUITZ
CANYON WAY, EXTENDING THE TERM OF THE LEASE TO DECEMBER 31,
2007.

FISCAL IMPACT:

CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, Lessor, and the COUNTY OF RIVERSIDE,
County, hereby agree to amend that certain Lease dated January 13, 1987,
pertaining to that certain building located at 3111 East Tahquitz Way, Palm
Springs, California, as more particularly shown on Exhibit "A", attached to the
Lease, as follows:
1. Term.
(a) Pursuant to Section 1 of the Lease, the Term of Lease was
extended effective as of July 1, 2006, on a month to month tenancy, for a period
not to exceed six months, with the expressed consent of the City.
(b) Effective as of January 1, 2007, the Term of the Lease shall
be extended twelve months through December 31, 2007.
2. All other provisions of the Lease remain the same.
3. This First Amendment to Lease shall not be binding or
consummated until its approval by the County.

I, James Thompson, City Clerk of the City of Palm Springs, hereby certify that this
Minute Order, Approving Amendment No. 1 to a lease agreement with the County of
Riverside, for real property located at 3111 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way, occupied by
Department of Health, extending the term of the lease to December 31, 2007, was
adopted by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, California, in a meeting thereof
held on the 61h day of December, 2006.
