The entire grant has been committed to the Cyrun GAD-RMS system. RECOMMENDATION: 1. Adopt Minute Order No authorizing the City Manager to accept a Homeland Security Grant in the amount of $50,000. • 2. Authorize the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. STAFF ANALYSIS: The United States Department of Homeland Security awarded grant funds to the State of California to help prepare for, prevent and respond to terrorist attacks and other major disasters. This money is administered through Riverside County, the City of Palm Springs was awarded $50,000 which is to be used for the Cyrun software system. This system will allow police and fire employees to be rapidly deployed to emergency situations by improving the ability of officers to receive critical information from Dispatch on their mobile data computers. It will also allow the departments to share critical data with other valley agencies. Since the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, law enforcement agencies nation wide have been striving to improve interdepartmental communications. This project is a major part of the Police Department's efforts to that goal.
