Airport Fire Station Expansion
May 16, 2001
Page Two
Alternate 1 is the replacement of the street side apparatus doors, Alternate 2 is a new floor
finish in the old apparatus bays and Alternate 3 is an exhaust system for the street side
apparatus; all of these are budgeted in the General Fund.
The low responsive bidder is Palm Valley Construction. The contractor has offices in
Bermuda Dimes with principles of Richard Frenzel, President, Karla Frenzel,
Secretary/Treasurer. Their DBE connnitment of 5% is below the goal of 15% and the
contractor is submitting proof of a "good faith effort"which will be reviewed prior to the
Cotmcil meeting.
A Resolution is attached which would award the contract subject to FAA approval and
establish administrative paranieters, includingauthorization for the Administrator to approve
Change Orders up to 7% of project bid.
Funds are available in Airport Account 415-6600-56045, "ARFF Vehicle/Building."
