RECOMMENDATION: That the City Council approve Construction Change Order No.2 to American Asphalt Repair & Resurfacing Co., Inc., for a decrease of $11,488.48 for the 2000/01 Annual Slurry Seal Program, City Project No. 00-27. SUMMARY In Schedules A and B, total quantities were less than contract amount and in Alternate Schedule C, total quantity was more than contract amount. In combining all schedules, contract amount results in a decrease to the contract. BACKGROUND: On February 7, 2001, City Council of the City of Palm Springs awarded American Asphalt Repair & Resurfacing Co., Inc. the contract for the 2000 / 2001 Annual Slurry Seal Program Project. All slurry seal quantities were measured by both the City and the Contractor. Total Final As-Built quantities were less than contract amounts.The following summary for each schedule shows the increase and decrease amounts: Schedule A - ($ 1,142.79), Decrease Schedule B - ($ 13,432.72), Decrease Alternate Schedule C - $ 3,087.02, Increase The City deleted the following streets because of upcoming Desert Water Agency water main projects: Schedule A - Farrell Drive from Tamarisk Road to Alejo Road Schedule B-Baristo Road from Sunrise Way to Compadre Road, Compadre Road from Ramon Road to Baristo Road Funds will be unencumbered in account number no.134 - 4498 - 50100 (2000/01 Annual Slurry Seal) -Aff5L DAVID J. All cost per each item are final. C. REASON FOR CHANGE: In Alternate Schedule C, quantity was field measured by both the Contractor and the City. Quantity exceeded contract estimate. In Schedule A, quantity was field measured by both the Contractor and the City. Quantity was under contract estimate. Also,the City deleted Farrell Drive from Alejo Road to Tamarisk Road due to upcoming Desert Water Agency water main project. In Schedule B, quantity was field measured by both the Contractor and the City. Quantity was under contract estimate.
