Meeting of the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, was called to order by Mayor Maryanov, in the Council Chamber, 3200 Tahquitz Canyon Way, on Wednesday, October 13, 1993,at 7:30 p.m. ROLL CALL: Present: Councilmembers Hodges, Lyons, Reller-Spurgin, Schlendorf and Mayor Maryanov Absent: None The meeting was opened with the Salute to the Flag and a Moment of Silence. REPORT OF POSTING OF AGENDA: City Clerk reported that the agenda was posted in accordance with Council procedures on October 8, 1993. PUBLIC COMMENTS: LEGISLATIVE ITEMS: 1. COMMISSION APPOINTMENTS Consideration of appointment to fill existing vacancies and terms which expired June 30, 1993. Mayor recommended his appointment of the following: Mike Kassinger, Board of Appeals, no term Leslie Pricer, CV Mosquito Abatement District, 12-31-95 (60 Ola Roberts, Library Board, expire 6-30-96 Visitor&Promotion Board Daryl James 1-25 room repr., full term Kathleen Bennett 100-149 room repr., full term Herb Rafetto 150+ room repr., expire 6-30-96 John Connell retail, expire 6-30-94 Lois Anderson retail, expire 6-30-97 Mike Allen at-large, expire 6-30-96 After which, it was moved by Reller-Spurgin, seconded by Lyons, and unanimously carried, that said appointments be approved. City Clerk reported that applications for the following commissions will close on October 15, and it was the consensus of the Council to schedule interviews for November 8, commencing at 5:30 p.m.: 1 Human Rights Commission, expire 6-30-95, 1 Parks & Recreation Commission, full term; and 1 Public Arts, expire 6-30-94 (option appoint for full term also, 6-30-98). Although Mayor had recommended a nominee for the Historic Site Preservation Board, full term, it was noted by Councilmember Reller-Spurgin that the nominee was not interviewed, as reported, and the City Clerk was directed to schedule interviews with him and other candidates.
