HomeMy WebLinkAbout1990 - MINUTES - 12/18/1990 CITY OF PALM SPRINGS CITY COUNCIL MINUTES + .. .-., DECEMBER 18, 1990 An Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council was called to order by Mayor Bono in the Conference Room of the City Corporation Yard Building, Civic Drive, on Tuesday, December 18, 1990, at 5:30 p.m. ROLL CALL: Present: Councilmembers Broich, Hodges, Murawski Neel and Mayor Bono Absent: None LEGISLATIVE ACTION: 1. SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT - DESERT CAB Recommendation: That the Council approve Settlement Agreement with Desert Transportation Inc. ; adopt an urgency ordinance deregulating passenger carrier fares and tariffs; approve mutual general release related to the settlement agreement; and approve a letter of representation not to enter into anotherexclusive taxi license until August 31, 1992. Director of Aviation reported that this matter was discussed in Closed Session, and recommended the above actions, ( 143- which unconditionally releases all parties. In answer 001ly , to question by Council , he stated that recommendation will be made to not enter into a valley-wide agreement if an effort is made to set higher rates with other cab companies. Resolution 17360-A, approving actions as recommended, was presented; and City Clerk read title of Ordinance 1362, as follows: AN URGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, 3-�10 CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTION 5.40.010(d) OF CHAPTER 003- 5.40 OF TITLE 5 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE TO DEREGULATE PASSENGER CARRIER FARES AND TARIFFS. It was moved by Hodges, seconded by Broich, and unanimously carried, that further reading of the Ordinance 1362 be waived; that Ordinance 1362 be adopted; and that R17360-A be adopted.
