QUESTIONS THAT NEED TO BE ANSWERED
WHEN CONSIDERING DEVELOPMENT
• What kinds of jobs are being created?
(As opposed to, "How many jobs are being created?")
• Where will the employees live?
• Who will provide for employee healthcare and other essential
services?
• Is there land set aside for schools, recreation and open space?
• How will this project benefit all residents (and not just large
businesses/developers)?
o (Hint: "Trickle-down" effect is not an acceptable
answer.)
o (Hint #2: "It will create jobs," is not an acceptable
answer. "It will create jobs that ensure our residents
will work in a healthy environment and will be able to
afford to live, shop and raise a family in our city," is an
example of a better answer.
We want the Palm Springs City Council to hold a study
session to learn more about these issues. We will be happy to
provide presenters and stand ready to consult.
