Ready, City Manager BY: Police Department SUMMARY The requested action would be the 1st Amendment to the Allocated Positions and Compensation Plan for 2006 — 2007 which adds two additional Police Officer positions. RECOMMENDATION: 1. Approve Resolution No. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS CALIFORNIA APPROVING AMENDMENT #1 TO THE ALLOCATED POSITIONS AND COMPENSATION PLAN, ADOPTED BY RESOLUTION 21612. STAFF ANALYSIS: On 6-29-06 the Local Benefit Committee allocated $212,000 from the Indian Gaming Special Distribution Fund for additional two police officers for the downtown of Palm Springs. The additional officers will supplement the two existing police officers assigned downtown. The officers will be responsible for patrolling in and around the Spa Casino as well as the downtown area which is impacted by the casino patrons. The grant funding is for one year. If the funding is not renewed next year the positions will be absorbed through attrition. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS APPROVING AMENDMENT #1 TO THE ALLOCATED POSITIONS AND COMPENSATION PLAN, ADOPTED BY RESOLUTION 21612 WHEREAS, an Allocated Positions and Compensation Plan was adopted June 7, 2006 for the 2006-07 fiscal year by Resolution No. 21612; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to amend said Allocated Positions and Compensation Plan. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the Allocated Positions and Compensation Plan for positions in the City Service for fiscal year 2006-2007 is hereby amended effective September 7, 2006, as follows: SECTION 2. Additions Department # Positions Classification Unit/Range Police 2 Police Officer (Casino) P/45 Total authorized positions 2006-2007 as previously approved 471.25 Total authorized positions 2006-2007 as amended (Amendment#1) 473.25 ADOPTED THIS 71h day of September, 2006.
