HomeMy WebLinkAbout21458 - RESOLUTIONS - 11/16/2005 RESOLUTION NO. 21458 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING WITH GRATITUDE THE DONATION FROM THE ANDERSON CHILDREN'S FOUNDATION AND THE BERNS-SOLOMON FAMILY FOUNDATION CHARITABLE GIFT FUND TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT'S YOUTH POLICE ACADEMY. WHEREAS, the Anderson Children's Foundation, Bill Schlessinger, Trustee, has donated $7,500 to begin a Youth Police Academy through the Palm Springs Police Department; and WHEREAS, the Berns-Solomon Family Foundation Charitable Gift Fund, Steve and Abby Solomon, Trustees, has donated $2,500 to begin the Youth Police Academy through the Palm Springs Police Department; and WHEREAS, the Police Department's Police Activities League (PAL), in cooperation with the Palm Springs Unified School District, now offers a Youth Police Academy to youth in grades seven through twelve; and WHEREAS, the Youth Police Academy is built on a similar format and curriculum as the Police Department's Citizens' Police Academy, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, that the City Council accepts the donation with gratitude and authorizes the City Manager to accept this donation for use by the Police Department for the Youth Police Academy.
