HomeMy WebLinkAbout21290 - RESOLUTIONS - 6/15/2005 RESOLUTION NO. 21290 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, NAMING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT'S FIRING RANGE THE "JAMES A. HEAZLETT FIRING RANGE" IN HONOR OF COMMANDER HEAZLETT WHEREAS, Commander James Heazlett dedicated his life to the citizens of Palm Springs and the Palm Springs Police Department; and WHEREAS, Commander James Heazlett was instrumental in the fundraising efforts to provide the Police Department with a state-of-the-art technological firearms range; and WHEREAS, Commander James Heazlett created and taught the Citizens Firearms and Safety class graduating over 200 citizens; and WHEREAS, Commander James Heazlett was an integral member of our community, raising his family, teaching and volunteering his time in Palm Springs WHEREAS, Commander James Heazlett passed away suddenly on January 26, 2005, less then 3 years after his retirement. I' NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, California, as follows: 1. The City Council extends to the members of James Heazlett's family this expression of sincere regret for his loss and the hope that they will be consoled by the memories of his fine life and achievements. 2. That a proper copy of this Resolution, endorsed by each member of the City Council and certified by the City Clerk, be respectfully transmitted to his bereaved family. 3. That in memory of his lasting contributions to our community, the Palm Springs Police Department firing range be named the "James A. Heazlett Firing Range." ADOPTED this15th day of June, 2005.
