HomeMy WebLinkAbout21269 - RESOLUTIONS - 5/18/2005 RESOLUTION NO. 21269 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, TEMPORARILY SUSPENDING CERTAIN REGULATORY ORDINANCES TO FACILITATE A FIREWORKS DISPLAY FOR OPENING-NIGHT FESTIVITIES OF THE PALM SPRINGS POWER BASEBALL TEAM AT PALM SPRINGS STADIUM ON JUNE 3, 2005. WHEREAS the City of Palm Springs has a one-year Agreement to Use Facilities with the Palm Springs Power Baseball Foundation; and WHEREAS the City Council desires to facilitate the staging for the opening-night festivities of the Palm Springs Power Baseball Team; and WHEREAS the City Council finds that certain regulatory ordinances, which are j generally deemed desirable and necessary, may, nonetheless, impede the conduct of special events; and WHEREAS the City Council finds that in holding special events, the public i interest and the benefits derived therefrom outweigh the temporary public i inconvenience; and i WHEREAS the City Council has enacted Ordinance #1310 authorizing temporary suspension of regulatory ordinances. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, California, as follows: Section 1. A.That the opening-night fireworks display by the Palm Springs Power Baseball Team is a special event beneficial to the community and its visitor-oriented economy. B.That the date and time of the five- to seven-minute opening-night fireworks display is Friday, June 3, at 10:15 p.m. C.That Palm Springs Power Baseball Foundation is the event promoter, along with its construction personnel and staff. D.That the venue is held at Palm Springs Stadium. Section 2. That the following ordinances are hereby temporarily suspended for the special event designated in Section 1 above: Noise Ordinance. Section 3. That the regulatory ordinance designated in Section 2 above shall remain in full force and effect as to the event, date and persons or organizations as designated in Section 1 above.
