DATE: February 21, 2001
TO: City Council
FROM: Director, Department of Facilities
ENTERPRISE RENT-A-CAR
RECOMMENDATION:
That City Council authorize the City Manager to authorize a rental between
Enterprise Rent-A-Car and the City of Palm Springs for up to a total of six
vehicles at a monthly cost of$800 per vehicle, not to exceed $4,800 per month.
SUMMARY
Currently, the City owns and operates all vehicles through its Fleet Operations
Division. The proposed rental arrangement with Enterprise Rent-A-Car will
enable an exchange of vehicles as needed.
BACKGROUND:
The rental being proposed will not add to the total number of vehicles currently
being operated, but will reduce the size of the City's fleet by six vehicles. The
six vehicles will be treated as surplus units, consistent with the City's Motor
Vehicle Replacement policy adopted on June 5, 1996.
Funds are currently available and budgeted in the Motor Vehicle Replacement
Fund, Account No. 510-5475-50020, Motor Vehicles.
