HomeMy WebLinkAbout20840 - RESOLUTIONS - 3/3/2004 RESOLUTION NO. 20840 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE SALE OF TWO (2) OSHKOSH@ T-1500 AIRCRAFT RESCUE FIRE FIGHTING (ARFF) APPARATUS TO CRASH RESCUE EQUIPMENT SERVICE, INC. IN "AS IS, WHERE IS CONDITION" FOR THE AMOUNT OF $61,000 PER VEHICLE FOR A GRAND TOTAL OF $122,000 AND DEDICATING THE FUNDS TO THE CITY'S SHARED MOBILE COMMAND POST AND/OR EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS NEEDS FOR THE PALM SPRINGS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. -------------------------------------- WHEREAS, the events of September 111h have placed extraordinary requirements on the City of Palm Springs International Airport; and WHEREAS, the City having recently replaced the three (3) ARFF apparatus assigned to the Palm Springs International Airport, through an Airport Improvement Program(AIP) grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA); and WHEREAS, under normal circumstances, the FAA would require that funds from surplus apparatus purchased via AIP funds must go toward the replacement of new apparatus, the FAA has agreed that funds from the surplus sale can go toward the Department of Aviation share of a City shared Mobile Command Post and/or emergency preparedness needs for the Palm Springs International Airport. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs as follows: 1. The events of September 111h have placed extraordinary demands on the City of Palm Springs and the Palm Springs International Airport; 2. Tat the sale of two (2) surplus Oashkosh® T-1500 Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) apparatus us awarded to Crash Fire Rescue Equipment Service, Inc. in "as is, where is condition" for the amount of$61,000 per vehicle for a total of $122,000, plus applicable State of California sales/use tax; 3. The Department of Aviation has received authorization from FAA to utilize the revenue from the sale of this ARFF apparatus towards the Airport's portion of acquiring a shared City mobile command post and/or emergency preparedness needs for the Palm Springs International Airport; and 4. The funds from the sale of these two (2) apparatus are hereby dedicated to the Department of Aviation's portion oof the pending City mobile command post and/or emergency preparedness needs of the Palm Springs International Airport.
