HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/15/2000 - STAFF REPORTS (2) DATE: November 15, 2000 TO: City Council FROM: Acting Director of Aviation AIRPORT CAR RENTAL CONCESSIONS RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council approve award of agreements in response to the invitation for bids (IFB 01-07) for Car Rental Concessions at Palm Springs International Airport. SUMMARY: Car rental concession agreements at the Palm Springs International Airport are scheduled to expire on December 31,2000. Proposals in response to the Invitation For Bids (IFB 01-07) are due November 9, 2000; subsequent to the posting of the agenda. A committee will review each bid proposal to ensure compliance with the City's requirements in IFB-07. A supplemental report will be submitted prior to the meeting indicating the successful bidders. BACKGROUND: The Car Rental Concession agreements at Palm Springs International Airport are scheduled to expire on December 31,2000. With the assistance of the Procurement Department, the Airport has issued an Invitation For Bids (IFB #01-07) for car rental concessions. Below is the time-line for bidding and award of new concession agreements: The City anticipates awarding contracts within sixty(60)days afteropening bids, unless all bids are rejected or the award of contracts is canceled. Furthermore, the City anticipates awarding all six operating agreements at the same time. A specific preliminary IFB time line is as follows: Bid Documents Sent Out September 15, 2000 Pre Bid Meeting September 28, 2000 Final Questions/Comments Due October 12, 2000 Addenda Out October 19, 2000 Bid Date (2:00 pm Local) November 9, 2000 (amended) Announcement of Outcome November 15, 2000 Space Selection Date November 20, 2000 Contract Awards November 21, 2000 Signed Documents Due to Airport December 5, 2000 Relocations December 26 to 30, 2000 There are (6)six operating agreements for car rental concessions that are expected to be executed dependent upon the bid proposals. The qualified bidders will be positioned in spaces (1) one through (6)six based on their minimal annual guarantees. The sixth space is an off-airport car rental concession. The selected car rental concessions will be submitted to the City Council as a supplemental report for its November 15, 2000 meeting.
