HomeMy WebLinkAbout20705 - RESOLUTIONS - 7/30/2003 RESOLUTION 20705 1 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, PROVIDING REVIEW AND COMMENT ON THE PROPOSED SPA RESORT CASINO SIGN PROGRAM AND REVISED PYLON SIGN FOR PROPERTIES LOCATED AT THE SPA RESORT AND CASINO WHEREAS,the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians(ACBCI)and the City have entered into the Agreement for Tribal/City Land Use Review on Certain Parcels(Agreement)forthe purpose of cooperating in promoting the orderly and expeditious use and development of all lands of the ACBCI Reservation; and WHEREAS,the Agreement provides for the opportunity for the City to review and comment on projects and that the ACBCI will consider, review, and comment in its consideration of projects; and WHEREAS, the Agreement contains a provision for review of minor projects and forgo the more detailed Conformity Report process; and WHEREAS, a Sign Program was provided to the City for review and comment; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission reviewed the proposed Spa Resort Casino Sign Program at its July 23, 2003 meeting and has made a recommendation to support the 1 proposed Sign Program and to ask the Tribal Council to restudy the need for, size, and design of the proposed Indian Canyon Drive pylon sign. WHEREAS,the Planning Commission found that the Sign Program is of the highest quality of design and materials; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission found that the proposed Indian Canyon Drive pylon sign was not in character with the design and character of the new casino building and downtown Palm Springs; and WHEREAS, the City Council is in agreement with the review and comment of the Planning Commission. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of City of Palm Springs, California, has reviewed the proposed Spa Resort Casino Sign Program and proposed 1 Iq � Resolution 20705 7-30-03, Page 2 modifications to the existing Indian Canyon Drive pylon sign and has the following comments: ' 1. Spa Resort Casino Sign Program: That the City Council supports the proposed Sign Program. 2. Indian Canyon Drive Pylon Sign: Thatthe City Council recommends that the Tribal Council reevaluate the size,scale, design, and overall need for this proposed sign as currently designed. ADOPTED this 301h day of July, 2003.
