HomeMy WebLinkAbout20575 - RESOLUTIONS - 3/26/2003 RESOLUTION NO. 20575 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR THE SOUTHERLY AIRPORT TERMINAL ACCESS ROADWAY SECURITY RECONFIGURATION AT THE PALM SPRINGS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT(AIP 3-06-0181-35, CITY PROJECT 2002-20)TO YEAGER SKANSKA, INC IN THE AMOUNT OF $7,796,239, WAIVING MINOR IRREGULARITIES AND ESTABLISHING CITY PROJECT ADMINISTRATORAND ADMINISTRATION PARAMETERS,SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION (FAA). A04674 WHEREAS the events of September 11" and the security requirements mandated by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) have greatly impacted the Palm Springs International Airport; and, WHEREAS the project had a pre-bid engineer's estimate of$8,100,000; and, WHEREAS the project plans and specifications were approved and adopted by the City Council on February 5, 2003 and the project has been advertised for a period of thirty (30) days for bid with bids being received on March 24, 2003, from Yeager Skanska, Inc., Griffith Company, Matich Corporation and Granite Construction Company; and, WHEREAS following careful review of the bids, the lowest, responsive, responsible bidder has been determined to be Yeager Skanska, Inc. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs as follows: 1. That the Southerly Airport Terminal Access Roadway Security Reconfiguration project (AIP 3-06-0181-35, City Project 2002-20)is awarded, subject to approval by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), to Yeager Skanska, Inc. in the amount of$7,796,239. 2. That item #20 of the bid "Special Provisions" requires the prime contractor, with his or her organization to perform an amount of work equal to at least 50%of the total contract cost is a provision not required for this project and is hereby waived as a minor irregularity. Thatthe Executive Director-Airports is hereby authorized to administerthe contract and is authorized to approve Change Orders up to 5% of the total contract amount, subject to City Manager approval.
