Home My WebLink About10/4/2000 - STAFF REPORTS (7) 71 DATE: October 4, 2000 TO: City Council FROM: City Engineer and Redevelopment Director YOUTH CENTER PARKING LOT IMPROVEMENTS RECOMMENDATION: That the City Council award a HUD Community Development Block Grant contract to RVC Roadway Construction, Inc., in the amount of$41,142.85 for the Youth Center Parking Lot Improvements, City Project No. 99-10. BACKGROUND: The 1998/99 and 2000/01 budgets included HUD Community Development Block Grant funding for the construction of parking lot improvements at the Palm Springs Youth Center, including curb, gutter, sidewalk, pavement and striping. The block grant program is administered by the Community Redevelopment Department, and the work is being done at the request of the Youth Center. The plans and specifications were prepared by Korve Engineering under contract to the Youth Center. The project was advertised for bids on August 26 and September 2, 2000. At 3:00 p.m. on September 19, 2000, the Procurement Division received bids from the following contractors: 1. RVC Roadway Construction, Inc., Colton $41,142.85 2. Contreras Construction Co., Indio $45,715.00 3. CORA Construction, Palm Desert $47,660.00 4. International Pavement Solutions, Inc., Mentone $48,185.00 5. Granite Construction, Watsonville $48,229.00 6. Matich Corp., San Bernardino, $48,965.00 7. NPG Corp, Perris $49,125.00 8. Mojave Equipment Co., Inc., Victorville $60,666.00 Engineer's estimate was $34,150.00 RVC Roadway Construction, Inc., the low bidder, is a corporation from Colton.
