HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/4/2000 - STAFF REPORTS (6) DATE: October 4, 2000 TO: City Council FROM: Assistant City Manager-Special Projects TEMPORARY HOLD ROOM ARCHITECTURAL CONTRACT- GENSLER RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that City Council approve an Architectural Design Contract with Gensler for the Airport's temporary hold room replacement project. BACKGROUND: In July,the Airport Commission and City Council selected Gensler as the architect for the Airport's temporary hold room replacement project and authorized staff to negotiate an agreement for the work. A proposed agreement has been negotiated and is attached. The following summarizes this phase of the work: Scope: Conceptual Design - three alternatives will be developed; an alternatives booklet will be developed; the selected alternative will have presentation drawings prepared. Cost: Design Work $25,000. Renderings 4,000. Reimbursables 2,500. Total (not to exceed) $32,000. Schedule: Three months Funds are available for this design work in the 2000/01 Airport Budget, account number 415-6400-56044, Hold Room Design. Attached is a Minute Oder for City Council consideration which would approve the professional services contract. ALLEN F. Contract REVIEWED BY DEPT.OF FINANCE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS CONTRACT SERVICES AGREEMENT FOR PALM SPRINGS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT Hold Rooms - Gates 1, 2 & 3 Architectural Services THIS CONTRACT SERVICES AGREEMENT (herein "Agreement") is made and entered into this _ day of , 2000, by and between the CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, a municipal corporation (herein "City") and GENSLER, (herein "Contractor"). (The term Contractor includes professionals performing in a consulting capacity). NOW, THEREFORE, the parties hereto agree as follows: 1.0 SERVICES OF CONTRACTOR 1.1 Scope of Services. In compliance with all of the terms and conditions of this Agreement, the Contractor shall perform the work or services set forth in the "Scope of Services and Special Conditions" attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein by reference. Contractor warrants that all work and services set forth in the Scope of Services will be performed in a competent, professional and satisfactory manner. 1.2 Compliance With Law. All work and services rendered hereunder shall be provided in accordance with all ordinances, resolutions, statutes,rules, and regulations of the City and any Federal, State or local governmental agency of competent jurisdiction. 1.3 Licenses, Permits. Fees and Assessments. Contractor shall obtain at its sole cost and expense such licenses, permits and approvals as may be required by law for the performance of the services required by this Agreement. 2.0 COMPENSATION 2.1 Contract Sum. For the services rendered pursuant to this Agreement, Contractor shall be compensated in accordance with the "Schedule of Compensation&Performance" attached hereto as Exhibit "B" and incorporated herein by this reference,but not exceeding the maximum contract amount of Thirty-two Thousand Dollars ($32,000). 2.2 Method of Payment. Provided that Contractor is not in default under the terms of this Agreement, Contractor shall be paid as outlined in Exhibit "B", Schedule of Compensation. 3.0 COORDINATION OF WORK 3.1 Representative of Contractor. Andy Cohen is hereby designated as being the principal and representatives of Contractor authorized to act in its behalf with respect to the work and services specified herein and make all decisions in connection therewith. FS2\276\099999-3000\2022693.2 .08=95 Revised 09/01/98 1- 2 EXHIBIT "A" SCOPE OF SERVICES Contractor to perform Conceptual Design work for the replacement of the existing temporary hold rooms at Gates 1 2 & 3 at the Palm Springs International Airport. Project Issues and Concept Design process shall be as outlined in the Gensler letter dated September 14, 2000. The project will include a minimum of three (3) alternatives. These alternatives and the desired alternative will be incorporated into a Conceptual Design booklet documenting all of the alternatives and providing rough order of magnitude cost estimates for each alternative. The selected alternative shall be developed into presentation drawings including a rendered floor plan and section, showing the existing and proposed work. APPROVING A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH GENSLER FOR ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN SERVICES FOR THE AIRPORT'S TEMPORARY HOLD ROOM REPLACEMENT PROJECT. I HEREBY CERTIFY that this Minute Order, approving a Professional Services Agreement with Gensler for Architectural Design Services for the Airport's Temporary Hold Room Replacement Project, was adopted by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, California, in a meeting thereof held on the 4'" day of October 2000.
