OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS,
CALIFORNIA, RESCINDING RESOLUTION 18281, AND DETERMINING
TO RESOLVE TIES IN VOTING, FOR ELECTED OFFICES WITHIN THE
CITY, BY DRAWING LOTS.

' WHEREAS Section 301 of the Charter of the City of Palm Springs, California, provides that
ties in voting among candidates for office shall be settled by drawing by lot or by special
election as the City Council shall determine by ordinance or resolution; and
WHEREAS by Resolution 18281 the City Council last determine that such ties in voting shall
be resolved by a special runoff election; and
WHEREAS the City Council determines that such ties in voting shall be resolved henceforth by
drawing lots,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, as
follows:
Section 1. That if any two or more persons receive an equal and the highest number of
votes for an office to be voted for within the City, said ties in voting shall be
resolved by drawing lots pursuant to the provisions of California Elections
Code Section 15651.
Section 2. That the provisions of Section 1 shall apply at the next ensuing municipal
election and at each municipal election thereafter, unless otherwise repealed.
